Pony Express

Illustration shows a 180 watt 3 phase motor with integral worm/wheel gearbox, flange mounted to a 37Kw variable speed drive. This 'pony' motor enables the variator speed setting to be adjusted remotely and/or from an electric signal as part of an automatic process. It is an alternative to a handwheel which is the standard fitting on these variable speed drives.

A 2:1 simplex chain drive completes the transmission to what would otherwise be the handwheel. A friction torque limiter prevents 'jam up' damage whilst limit switches are placed so as to set maximum and minimum speed settings within the mechanical limits of the variator.
