Sarah with Mouse

FUEL ECONOMY - 359 MPG: 6th January, 2009

What's going on?

Combidrive modified a Danish battery driven three wheeler by fitting petrol and diesel engines and renaming it the 'Mouse'. Sarah (who works at Combidrive) drove the Mouse at Silverstone during a Shell Mileage Marathon and achieved a consumption figure of 359 mpg. In this case the drive comprised a 5.5hp Kubota GH170 petrol engine driving a variable ratio automatic belt transmission and then a final chain reduction of c.5:1. An overrun clutch or freewheel was positioned on the rear axle to further improve performance.

Worth noting!

Sarah says:- "Don't carry unnecessary equipment in your car the Mouse weighed in at c.230 Kg"
